This picturesque nation is home to the finest cheeses, most delectable chocolates, and also watches of the finest quality in the world. Aside from being a nation with a strong economy, Switzerland also offers a cultural experience like no other. Geneva

Geneva is perhaps one of the most popular cities in Switzerland, because of the tourist attractions, night life, shopping, and more. It is also the capital city of the Canton of Geneva, and shares a reputation as the second most populous city in the country. Getting around this city is easy, as they have trams, trains, buses, and other modes of public transport. You may also access regional trains to go as far west as Annemasse, in France.

The European Headquarters of the United Nations is seated in Geneva, and their building is called Palais des Nations, or the Palace of Nations. The most well-known school in Geneva is the University of Geneva, which was founded by the French theologian John Calvin in 1559.

Lausanne

In the Canton of Vaud is the city of Lausanne, which is also its capital. Lausanne has a population of more than 120,000 people, and French is the language of choice here. It is also in this famous city where you can find the headquarters of the International Olympic Committee, founded in 1894. Likewise, the Olympic Museum, or the Musee Olympique Lausanne is here, where more than 250,000 visitors come every year. To get around the city of Lausanne, you can ride the Metro, the light rail system, or you may also opt to ride buses and boats for a better view of the city.

Zermatt

If you love winter sports, then Zermatt is the place to be. Within the Canton of Valais, in the district of Visp is this municipality with a population of about 5,600 people. You can go around Zermatt via horse driven carriage if you like, as they have very few motor vehicles to prevent air pollution. You can shop along the busy alleys of the main street, Bahnofstrasse. Skiing is the most favorite activity here, and they have a six seater chair lift in Theodulgletscher, built directly on top of glacial ice.

St. Moritz

Speaking of skiing and winter sports, here is another place to go: Within the district of Maloja in the Canton of Grisons lies one of the most popular winter vacations spots on earth, and it is even noted by many critics as the “Top of the World.” This white wonderland is known as St. Moritz, lying in the heart of Engadine Valley. This resort is proud to have sunshine for more than 90% of its year, and was also the site of the Winter Olympics in 1928 and 1948.
